hooker

This post isn't about what you think it is. It actually happens to be about my Primary class.

Right before Christmas break, Chris and I were asked to speak and be the new Primary teachers for the four year old class. A couple weeks ago the lesson was on Joseph Smith's Childhood. We were trying to explain what had happened to his leg without getting too graphic. Chris had told them that he had a bad bone and it needed some help from a doctor. The next thing I know I hear "I saw a dead bird.. it had bones. But not very bad bones". "I saw a skunk once, I think it had bones too". This is how our class goes. At the end of the lesson I asked them what they learned about Joseph and I got this reply: "He got his leg cut off".

Last week the lesson was on the First Vision. Ya, try and explain that to a four year old. We told them that Joseph went into the the forest by himself to pray to Heavenly Father. This was followed by many gasps. "He's not allowed to go into the forest all by himself, he will get in trouble."

Anyway, he started to pray and Heavenly Father and Jesus came to visit him. They looked a little confused and so we just asked them to draw a picture of the First Vision. We out the picture on the board and gave them crayons and paper.

After a few minutes of drawing, I noticed one of my kids drawing something out of Jesus' hand. It looked like a hook so I asked if it was like Captain Hook's hook and he said "No, he's a hooker. He hooks people in and tells them to be good". :) I laughed and smiled and said you did a great job. :) These are lovely moments. I love this class.

  1. Okay, you know me, I saw "HOOKER" and had to click your link. Hehehe. What a funny story about your class. Love little kids (mostly because I don't have any of them anymore). So literal, aren't they? They'll sidetrack your lesson every time but keep you laughing while doing it! Enjoy your class!
