dresses

I remember getting asked to my first dance; Homecoming. I was so excited to find a cute little dress and everything that goes along with it. Our first day of dress shopping went horrible as always (if you didn't know, I'm very picky with just about everything). My poor mom, putting up with all of my ridiculous tantrums, tried so hard to help me with my first dress shopping experience. I remember one dress in particular that she loved and I,of course, despised; it looked like an old 1920's flapper girl dress. I don't know why but I absolutely hated it.
I even remember mom holding it up and swaying it around to make it look cool. Nope, didn't work.

Since then I have learned that I actually love the 1920's era (not that I lived it, I believe that would be a different story) but I love it. It all started in Mr. Waite's American Lit class when we were asked to read The Great Gatsby. I loved the book. Also, another fact about me, there is nothing I hate more than to read, just ask mom. But for some strange reason I loved this book. I loved the dresses, the suits, the hair, the old cars, the Charleston dance, the jazz, and the chivalry. I think it would have been wonderful, if I were rich, to live back then.
I just thought it was funny that I thought I hated that cute flapper dress and now I love it.

So, this year Chris and I, mostly I have been trying to decide what to dress up as for Halloween. We didn't last year and now that we are throwing a party, I thought it would be fun. We looked at the classics like Fred and Wilma, Caveman and Woman, Prince and Princess, Pharaoh and Cleopatra, etc.. But once I saw the flapper girl dress, I couldn't go back. So for Halloween this year I'm going to be a flapper girl and Chris gets to show his gangsta side. I am totally thrilled for Halloween this year.
Here's a picture of my outfit.

So I guess I owe my mom an apology.. Sorry mom. I love you. :)

decision made

It's official!!
We will be leaving our warm, sunny beautiful home to a new cold, cold home in January.
Chris was accepted to BYU-Idaho. Woohoo!!
(I am really petrified of the move and the cold but I am excited at the same time).
We got our tickets (thanks mom(s)) and we are looking forward to the move.
I can't wait to afford my groceries. I can't wait to bundle up in fuzzy, warm jackets.
Chris wants to eventually end up in med school so we figured he better get to a school that's a little bit bigger.
I know it's not much but it's closer to family and that's what matters to me right now.
We are so excited to go on another journey together.

This last year has been a crazy one but I've learned so much and I think I am ready to start another.
So now you know, the secret is out. :)

on my mind today

I know I haven't been blogging a whole lot. (Sorry mom). I'm sick and there's nothing to blog about when you're home on the couch watching Oprah.

Today I got up up to do the dishes but first I put my music on. I picked my Adele Station (on Pandora) and an unfamiliar song came on.
I've Got A Woman by Ray Charles
Ya, I'm young, I'm sad to say I wasn't even sure who he was. Don't worry I did my research.
So as the song went on I noticed some of the lyrics were from another song. I thought, "hey, that copy cat".
And then I saw that this song came out in the year 1954. Kanye West is the real copy cat here (his song, Gold Digger came out in 2006). By the way, I put the Glee version of this song up because Kanye is a nasty perverted man and I didn't want him on my blog. The songs are so different. It's funny to see how different some men view women as time goes on.

I know there are many copy cats out there and another one I found is from a pretty well known song (amongst teens) called Whatcha Say by Jason Derulo. (This is for you Shushan, Humphrey and Rebecca).
The real artist behind this song is Imogean Heap. The original song is called Hide and Seek, it's really weird. (You're gonna want to skip to 2:50 and prepare to be amazed).
And that's what's on Sarah's mind today. Thanks for reading. :)

marriage

A while ago I overheard a girl saying how much fun it was to be single and how she didn't want to get married.
She didn't want to get married because it meant she would have to cook and clean and be a mom. She said she didn't want to be tied down to someone.

This had me interested. And shocked. I believe there is problem with the way the world views marriage and especially the way most people talk about marriage.
Marriage means you have a partner. You have a constant friend.
Being sealed in the temple has been the very best thing that has ever happened to me.
I wish more people knew that marriage is fun! Ya sure you have to cook and clean, but you would have to do that when you're single too.  And yes, you GET to be "tied down".
Being married is great!

just a glimpse

I can't wait for Halloween to come! One of my favorite holidays ever!! (It would come first but Christmas is when I get to see family, so that takes the number one spot).
I just want to give you a glimpse at what my Halloween party will look like.

And what kind of food will be there:

It's okay to be jealous. :)

hey bloggers..

Hey all you bloggers and non bloggers out there..

I need a recipe for a home made pumpkin spice potpourri. I know it sounds weird but here in good ole TVA we are not allowed to have candles. So I need to get creative. My favorite is pumpkin spice but I will take anything holiday smelling. The holidays have started (I count Labor day) and I'm want it to start smelling like it. :) Anyway, anything you have would be so helpful. Thanks!

friends

This week was awesome!
I was able to have three of my best friends from high school come out here and stay with me. We had a blast. These girls have been there for me through the good times and the bad. I love them with all of my heart. :)
We spent a lot of time at the beach.

We spent some time at the Polynesian Cultural Center
We didn't mean to match. Or at least I didn't. I think Jess just missed me too much.

And some time being girls

We did so many things and had so much fun. I miss them already. Thanks Kaeli, Hannah and Jess for making my week amazing. I love you and can't wait to see you!! Three months and counting!! :)

24 weeks (December 2017)

It's been awhile. Like over a year since I last posted something here. I figured it was about time to update everyone. I announced tha...
